Nowadays, mutiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) production methods, such as chemical vapor deposition, are based on the use of transition metal catalysts. However, raw MWCNTs contain other carbonaceous impurities such as amorphous carbon, nanocrystalline graphite, and metallic catalysts. A common route to eliminate these impurities is chemical oxidation, which is achieved through such methods as acid treatment. In addition, this route induces the cutting of the MWCNTs, which allows their aspect ratio to be controlled. MWCNTs with different aspect ratios are used in various applications, such as for electronic, biological and composite materials. In this study, using this concept, we prepared MWCNTs, whose aspect ratio was controlled, which less change in their inherent properties, such as their purity, crystallinity and electrical conductivity. |
