Fluorescent Optode Membranes for pH Measurement Based on Covalent Immobilization of an ICT dye |

In order to develop fluorescent optode membranes for pH measurement, a functionalized push-pull conjugate dye was synthesized and covalently immobilized on a HEMA-based polymer membrane (M1) and a silica sol-gel membrane (M2), respectively. The optode membranes M1 and M2 exhibited fluorescence emission and ratiometric absorbance changes in acidic pH range. The fluorescence intensities of the membranes increased with increasing pH. M2 has a wider pH response range but less sensitive to the pH change compared with M1. The linear regression curves afforded a good fit in the operating pH range. The immobilization of the dye and pH-sensing properties of the membranes will be presented. |
