제목 | Carbon fixing hydrogel using ambient CO2 |
초록 | We have engineered wild-type plants to provide non-native functions by interfacing plant tissues, cells, or organelles with rationally designed functional nanoparticles. We focused on the interesting fact that plants can utilize atmospheric CO2 to grow and self-repair. Here, we present synthetic materials capable of mimicking this property. The fixed carbon exported from chloroplasts undergoes chemical reactions under relatively mild conditions. A gel matrix embedded with engineered chloroplasts continually grows, strengthen, and self-repairs using atmospheric carbon dioxide fixation and ambient light.
