Macrostructured MCM-41, MCM-48 and SBA-15 with bimodal pore size distribution were synthesized by a new and simpler dual-templating method. Monodispersed micron-sized polystyrene (PS) beads were added without any pre-arrangement directly to a gel solution prepared for the synthesis of mesoporous materials. Different macropore structures were obtained due to different shrinking modes of macropores by varying the PS bead size, the Si:PS ratio and the reaction temperature. (MCM-41, MCM-48, SBA-15)/PS as new materials were tested for the selective catalytic reduction of NO by hydrocarbon in the presence of excess oxygen. Pt/MCM-41/PS catalyst showed better activity for NO reduction than Pt/MCM-41 when using bulky reducing agent (C12H26). It was considered that macropores in Pt/MCM-41/PS catalyst provide the easy access of bulky hydrocarbon into the active sites for NO reduction. |
