Preparation of fluorescent microporous organic polymers via Knoevenagel condensation and their optical properties |

Microporous organic polymers with large surface areas and fluorescent properties have potential applications in sensing. In this study we synthesized fluorescent microporous organic polymers by the Knoevenagel condensation reaction between tris(4-formaldehydephenyl)benzene and 1,4-benzodinitrile. Nitrogen sorption analysis revealed that the polymer had a surface area of 282 m2g-1. The polymer dispersed in an organic solvent showed yellow-green fluorescence emission with high intensity. With the addition of PCBM the fluorescence intensity was significantly quenched by electron transfer. The application of the polymer for sensing aromatic compounds was studied. |
