제목 Synthesis and Characterization of Biodegradable MethoxyPoly(ethyleneglycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone-co-L-lactide) Block Copolymers
초록 Biodegradable polyesters such as ε-caprolactone (ε-CL) and L-lactide (LA) is an attractive polymer which can be used as a synthetic biomaterial or controlled drug release matrix due to its good biodegradability and biocompatibility. Poly(ethylene glycol) presents outstanding physico-chemical and biological properties, including higher hydrophilicity, solubility in water, lack of toxicity, absence of antigenicity and immunogenicity.
In this study, a series of methoxypoly(ethyleneglycol) (MPEG)-poly(ε-caprolactone-co-L-lactide) (PCLA) diblock copolymers were synthesized by ring-opening polymerization of a mixture of ε-caprolactone and L-lactide with different ratios in presence of Sn(Oct)2. The characterization of MPEG-PCLA diblock copolymers were examined by 1H-NMR, GPC, DSC, and XRD. We investigated that kinetics for the ring-opening polymerization of monomer mixtures were carried out in various condition such as a variation with polymerization time, amount of catalyst, and temperature. Also, to examine the biodegradability of MPEG-PCLA diblock copolymers in 20 wt% aqueous solution with the passage of time was prepared diblock copolymers solution using phosphate buffered saline and kept at 37.5 oC for 14 weeks. The biodegradability of MPEG-PCLA diblock copolymers increased as relative L-lactide contents in diblock copolymers increased.
In conclusion, we can controll the biodegradability of MPEG-PCLA diblock copolymers related to ratio of PCL and PLA block segments.
