Light-absorbing additives for hole-collecting buffer layers in polymer solar cells |

Recently polymer solar cells have been studied due to their potential for low cost manufacturing of lightweight solar modules. Although the power conversion efficiency of polymer:fullerene type solar cells has reached ~8%. In particular, their stability is still not clearly confirmed though various attempts have been carried out. It has been reported that one of key factors affecting the stability of polymer solar cells is the acidity of hole-collecting buffer layers (mostly, PEDOTT:PSS). We have recently proved that the lifetime of polymer:fullerene solar cells was proportional to the remained acid groups in the PEDOT:PSS layer. In this work, we tried to modify the PEDOT:PSS layer by incorporating light-absorbing additives that can control both nanomorphology and electronic states in the PEDOT:PSS layer. Results showed that the device performance was improved by introducing the light-absorbing additives. |
