Electrospun nanofibers have a great potential to mimic the extracellular environment for tissue regeneration by inducing aligned nanofibers. However, the conventional electrospinning has been fabricated in 2-dimensional mat-like form, which has limitations such as low cellular infiltration, organic material composition and step-by-step process. In this study, a new system to fabricate "one step 3-dimensional adhesive scaffold" is introduced. Poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) were used via coaxial electrospinning technique to generate a biocompatible nanofibrous scaffold with tissue adhesive property, and this newly designed scaffold was characterized in vitro to reveal its potential for use in defected tissue regeneration. This novel adhesive scaffold will be induced with a viral gene delivery technology for having a variety of tissue engineering applications in futher study. |
