In situ Deposition of Polyaniline Nanofibers through Magnetic Field Polymerization on ITO and their Use as a Hole Transport Layer in Polymer Solar Cells |

Polyaniline is an interesting electrically conducting polymer with special properties. Recently, different nanofibers have been in the focus of research. However, very few studies have published with regard to polyaniline nanofibers in organic solar cells. Thus, such nanofibers were synthesized on ITO substrates by magnetic field polymerization and used as the buffer layer in polymer solar cells based on poly(3-hexylthiophene) and [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester. These polyaniline films fabricated with a magnetic field showed an efficient charge transport. In addition, the morphology of the films exhibited an anisotropic direction of the nanofibers depending on the direction of the magnetic field. The magnetic field induced the orientation of the polyaniline molecules due to the magnetic susceptibility and resulted in higher short circuit current and higher power conversion efficiency of polymer solar cells than those of the device without magnetic field. |
