Collagen is the most abundant protein in mammals, making up from 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Therefore, collagen is widely used as various tissue substitutes in addition to bone tissue. In this study, collagen was mineralized under biomimetic environment and the effect of mineralization on biological functions was examined using osteoblast. The physiochemical properties of mineralized collagen scaffolds will be evaluated using a scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX). Mineralization brought forth considerable changes in cellular responses including osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. |
