Metal-Polymer Hybrid Nano-Rods for Sensing Biomolecules |

Multi-block polymers(or metal) nano-rods with high aspect ratio have been extensively investigated because of their potential applications such as field effect transistors, biosensors, polymer nano actuator and drug delivery. Conducting polymers are feature of electrical properties, mechanical flexibility, relative ease of processing and functionalization. In this work, Polypyrrole diblock nano-rods were electrochemically constructed in porous AAO templates. Nano-rods comprised of Ppy(COOH) and Ppy(NH2) segments have been used for sensing biomolecules such as DNA and protein molecules. We present how one can use Ppy(COOH)-Ppy(NH2) nanorods as a sensing bar for detecting biomolecules. The synthesized polymer nano-rods were characterized with AFM, SEM, optical microscope and fluorescent microscope. |
