Investigation of Microstructure and Electrical Characteristics of Solution-Processed Thiophene Pechmann Lactam-Based Polymers |

Despite high co-planarity and strong polar bicyclic lactam structure, TBPD has been less explored compared to other bis-lactam structures, mainly due to its low yield in its synthesis via lactone-to-lactam conversion. By using a higher yield synthesizing methodology of TBPD, systematic studies were performed to figure out the correlations between thin-film microstructures and charge carrier mobilities of four newly synthesized TBPD-based polymers. We could report further improved the electrical characteristics of fabricated organic field-effect transistors with optimal solution-processing method (high boiling-point solvent, solution-shearing process and optimized thermal treatment). Our investigation is expected to promote future research and development associated with the TBPD unit. |
