제목 Characterization of synthetic absorbable Polydioxanone monofilament suture
초록 The purpose of this work was to characterize the physical and hydrolytic degradation properties of synthetic absorbable Polydioxanone monofilament suture, PDS* II. For the hydrolytic degradation study, we treated the specimen in a phosphate buffered Saline, pH 7.4 at 37℃ for 4months with shaking at a speed of 60times/min. We investigated the physical properties such as tensile strength, thermal transition properties, crystallization behavior, thermal decomposition properties, molecular weight, surface image and pH of the specimen using Tensile Tester, DSC, TGA, GPC, FE-SEM and pH meter as a function of hydrolysis time. The results showed that the synthetic absorbable Polydioxanone monofilament suture was degraded by two steps at different speeds and the breaking strength retention after 4weeks in vitro hydrolysis was about 85% of its initial strength. The molecular weight was decreased continuously and the speed of crystallization was increased with the hydrolysis time.
