Recent researches on boron nitride nanomaterials as catalysts have attracted much attention because boron nitride catalysts recently exhibit unique and unanticipated catalytic properties such as dehydrogenation. However, boron nitride catalyst with plenty of active sites, which is critical to improve the catalytic efficiency, have rarely been reported due to difficulty in preparation of dispersions of boron nitride nanomaterials. In our previous work, we reported on the facile process to disperse boron nitride nanotube (BNNT). In this presentation, we propose a simple method to obtain highly porous and thermostable BNNT cryogel by freeze-drying. In addition, to enhance the mechanical property of the cryogel, a silica precursor was added as a reinforcement agent. The porosity and mechanical strength of the cryogel were controlled by the experimental parameters. The cryogel, having high specific surface area and thermal stability, can be a promising candidate for catalysis applications. |
