The deformation of thin liquid film under a local electrostatic field has been examined experimentally and the results are compared with those of mathematical model. After discussing some physical effects such as electrohydrodynamics, surface tension and van der Waals force combined into the mathematical expressions, the evolution equations describing the surface behavior of the thin film have been introduced here with appropriate boundary conditions. Several assumptions make the governing equations docile to manipulate. The derived evolution equation for the film height is solved numerically. The pictured images by using the camera mounted on the optical microscope are compared with the theoretically obtained results in order to explain the plausible physical behavior. |
