Development of the xeno-glycomics database: qualitative and quantitative pig glycome inventory for a relative databse |

Glycoconjugates expressed on the outer surface of animal cells are major components. Glycans on cell surface involve biological process that can cause biological and immunological events. In pig-to-human xenotransplantation, pig glycans play major role in leading immune rejection. Although the α1,3-galactosyltransferase (GalT) gene-knock out (KO) pigs are introduced to overcome hyperacute rejection, there are still delayed immune rejection owing to unidentified non-Gal antigens. Therefore, identification and classification of glycans are necessary for pig glycome analysis. The improved mass spectrometry, recently, allows us to obtain numerous glycan data. However, there is no systemical classification of up-to-date pig glycans information in accordance with the specific pig tissues and cells. Herein, we present a database named Xenoglycomics database (XDB) that contains cell- or tissue-specific pig glycome analysis with mass spectrometry-based techniques. This database will contribute to providing a comprehensive pig glycans information. |
