Nanocomposites are widely used in electronic and imaging applications. In this study, Styrene, Butyl Acrylate and Methacrylic acid (MAA) were copolymerized in an aqueous media. Also, an aggregation technique during or after polymerization was used, to prepare the clay nanocomposites and to control their rheological properties. The ionic strength was controlled by pH and the amount of electrolytes, and the collision was controlled by a shearing rate. ARES, TEM, XRD, DMA were used to investigate the rheological and physical properties of the composites. It was found that the rheological could be controlled and the physical properties were significantly improved by adding the nano-size clay particles. The modulus and the stress relaxation were also examined as a function of frequency and temperature. |
