PA66 has been widely used in various engineering fields due to its excellent chemical resistance, low coefficient of friction, toughness, and strength. Among the numerous fillers, Potassium titanate has been found to be a promising reinforcer for the wear-resistant composites due to its unique properties such as outstanding mechanical performance, low hardness, and excellent chemical stability. However, most of the fillers have a strong tendency to undergo agglomeration followed by insufficient dispersal in the polymer matrix, degrading the mechanical and tribological properties of the polymer composites. This work has been carried out on the structural change of filler surface via coupling agent treatment, in order to overcome these disadvantages. The modified fillers were characterized by means of FT-IR, XRD, BET and melt behavior, mechanical and tribological properties of PA66 composites were also studied. |
