Microcavity structure can overcome the trade-off between optical absorption and diffusion length in organic layer by confining a large electric field inside a device, so that the performance enhancement is obtained even in thin active layer. The confinement of electric field in the active layers can be controlled through modulating thicknesses of optical spacers. Thus, microcavity stacked solar cells have possibility to amplify the electric fields in active layers and enhance the short circuit current comparing with ITO based stacked solar cells.Through optical simulation, both of the short circuit currents of thinner donor layer in bottom and acceptor layer in top cell are enhanced simultaneously through controlling the thicknesses of spacer layers of bottom and top cells. As a result, the maximum short circuit current has achieved when the absorption layers are placed at the 1st, 2nd antinodes of the electric field and it showed superior performance than ITO based solar cells. |
