The reactivity ratios of vinyl type polar monomersin their atom transfer radical copolymerizations. |
초록 |
Transition metal-mediated radical polymerization called as atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP) of vinyl monomers may produce the corresponding well-defined polymers via a controlled/'living' mechanism. However, ATRP of polar vinyl monomers can not be performed effectively due to a side reaction arising from a deactivation of the active site of the transition metal by polar group. We have developed a new process to polymerize polar vinyl monomers such as N-isopropylacrylamide(NiPAM) in aqueous phase using transition metal-mediated radical (co)polymerization. In this presentation, we will report the results for the reactivity ratios of NiPAM and other vinyl monomers in ATRP in aqueous media.
