To enhance the sensitivity of nonenzymatic glucose biosensor, the electrode for glucose sensing is prepared using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), gold (Au), and different quantity of copper oxide (CuO). The prepared electrode shows the highest sensitivity for glucose at a concentration of 0.1 M CuO. This value is 504.1 μA∙cm-2∙mM-1 which is more about 3-4 times than that of the electrodes using MWCNTs and Au/MWCNTs. The improved sensitivity of CuO/Au/MWCNTs complex electrode is attributed that the deposited Au nanoparticle on the MWNTs plays an important role in introducing CuO nanoclusters which have electro-catalytic activity for detecting glucose in alkaline electrolyte. In addition, the selectivity of CuO/Au/MWCNTs complex electrode is also examined. |
