Efficiency Enhancement of Narrow-bandgap Polymer based Bulk-hetrojunction Solar Cells using TiOx Optical Spacer |

We report that a narrow-bandgap conjugated polymer, poly[(4,4-didodecyldithieno[3,2-b:2’,3’-d]silole)-2,6-diyl-alt-(2,1,3-benzothiadiazole)-4,7-diyl] (P1) based bulk-heterojuction solar cells have been successively fabricated including the combination of a processing additive and TiOx optical spacer and consequently have shown the best performance corresponding to a power conversion efficiency (PCE), 5% with an enhanced maximum photoinduced current. Moreover, P1 based BHJ solar cells having TiOx optical spacer have attained the best performance of PSCs with a dramatically extended lifetime. The proposed architecture with the combination of the processing additive and TiOx optical spacer can be generally adapted for the high efficiency performance of narrow-bandgap polymer based BHJ solar cells which have the improved surface morphology. |
