Adsorption of Uranyl Ion by Polyethylene Adsorbents Modified with Amidoxime, Carboxyl, and Amidoxime / Carboxyl Group
The polyethylene (PE) adsorbents were prepared by radiation-induced grafting of acrylonitrile(AN) / acrylic acid(AA) onto PE film, and its subsequently amidocimation of cyano groups of poly(AN) graft chains. By the increase of AA composition, in AN/AA monomer miximum adsorption of uranyl ions was observed using the membrane which is the ratio of AN/AA(50/50, mol-%) in copolymer. The amidoxime, carboxyl, and amidoxime / carboxyl groups onto PE was acted as a chelating site for the selected uranyl ion. The complex structures of the three functional groups and uranyl ion were confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared(FTIR) spectroscopy.
