Construction of Large-Pore Crystalline Covalent Organic Framework as High-Performance Adsorbent for Rhodamine B Dye Removal
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) endowed with predesignable porous structures have shown great promise for addressing environmental issues. Herein, we described the synthesis and characterization of a novel triazine-based two-dimensional COF Ttba-TPDA-COF with accessible 5.8 nm large pore, which then used as a porous adsorbent for the static and dynamic adsorption of Rhodamine B dye from aqueous solution. The obtained large-pore COF with high surface area, uniform mesopore environment, and structural stability achieved an impressive performance that contains saturation capacity of 833 mg g(-1), kinetic efficiency, durability over pH and salt concentration, and good sustainable capability. In addition, a superior dynamic adsorption behavior of Ttba-TPDA-COF compared to commercial activated carbon was found in a column system. These results suggest the great potential of COFs as designable porous materials for various environmental remediation applications.
