The traditional extraction procedure of safflower was complicated and handling was difficult. The applicated extraction method and the various method for systematical extraction of carthamin was investigated in this study. various solvent were mixed to avoid large solvent use quantity and to decide the optimum solvent. Carthamin were analyzed the absorbance to compared the each relative extraction amount with UV-Vis. spectrophotometer. The result was that the optimum condition of alkaline and acidic solvent were sodium carbonate of pH 11.5, 40% acetic acid of pH 4. The optimum mixing solvent was sodium carbonate and potassium hydroxide with 8 : 2 in volume ratio and 40% acetic acid. The coordinate date of optimum condition was distributeed over the red region on CIE chromaticity diagram.
