In this study, we developed a cotton-derived three-dimensional graphene network decorated with nickel nanoparticles (Ni-GN) as a current collector with a high electrical conductivity and large surface area for high performance of supercapacitor. The supercapacitor where nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)2) active materials are deposited on Ni-GN (Ni(OH)2/Ni-GN) exhibited an outstanding capacitance value of 3,264 F/g at 10 A/g (comparable to the world record value of 3,262 F/g) in a three-electrode system and 90% of capacitance retention after 10,000 cycles due to the excellent electronic transport behavior achieved in the conductive networks of Ni-GN given the high surface area. The excellent electrical properties of easily synthesized Ni-GN as the current collector clearly suggest a straightforward way to achieve a number of high performance energy devices including great performance supercapacitors with both high energy density and power density. |
