Supercapacitors are known to suffer from relatively low energy density and stability, which hampers their substitution for existing batteries. Here, we introduce outstanding supercapacitors with high energy and high power density as well as good stability, by using three-dimensional electrode materials. First, 3D-graphene was synthesized by chemical vapor deposition methods using polymer as a carbon sources and templates. The 3D-graphene has high surface area and good conductivity, which provide high active sites to store ions on surface and fast charge transfer. Secondly, 3D-structure metal oxides were prepared to improve the capacitance of supercapacitor. Metal oxides have 3−4 times higher capacitance than carbon materials, because they not only react at the surface but also near the surface of the active electrode. Finally, we designed the 3D-current collector to increase the storage space on the surface, which allows high volumetric energy density and power density like battery. |
