Techno-economic analysis of ammonia decomposition and separation process to produce green hydrogen. |
초록 |
Ammonia is an excellent compound for hydrogen storage and transport as it enables liquid-phase storage under mild conditions at higher volumetric hydrogen density than liquid hydrogen. Ammonia decomposition and purification of H2 are needed to remove contaminants that can damage the operating system. Technically and economically optimized NH3 decomposition process is simulated using Aspen plus to produce 31.12 kg/day of hydrogen. Multiple catalytic packed bed reactor is simulated with the intermediate heating system. The required heat energy for the decomposition is generated from the combustion of NH3 with air at an equivalence ratio of 1.0. To achieve 99.99% pure hydrogen from unreacted NH3 and N2, an optimized pressure swing adsorption process is developed using aspen adsorption. Double layered Activated carbon and zeolite are used as adsorbents. The decomposition and purification processes are economically analyzed by calculating capital expenditures and operating expenses. This helps to develop an optimized ammonia decomposition and purification process to produce green hydrogen with improving plant life and profitability. |
