Large-area, three-dimensional laminated parts, such as boot linings have until now been manufactured in multiple operations on vertical presses by melt strand deposition. A new production method allows the textile laminate to be preformed and overmoulded in the injection mould in a single operation. The textile layers are heated to a suitable temperature by means of an IR radiator bank immediately before processing. This completely eliminates the separate preforming of the carpets. The result is reduced investment costs, a smaller footprint and reduced overheads for logistics.
