Designing economizers for reliability
In cycling service, the reliability of the economizer is as important as that of any other component of a heat-recovery steam generator. An economizer's inability to accommodate thermal expansion-especially during startup-can lead to corrosion fatigue, which is a leading cause of tube failures. Read on to learn why some aspects of economizer design are more conducive than others to operating HRSGs in cycling service.
