Oxidation of cumene in the presence of the benzoyl peroxide-tetraalkylammonium iodide initiator system
It is found that the benzoyl peroxide-tetraalkylammonium iodide system is an effective initiator of low-temperature liquid-phase oxidation of cumene. The kinetics of this process was studied, and rate equations were obtained. It was shown that the benzoic acid, cumene hydroperoxide, and iodine that are produced in the course of the reaction decrease the oxidation rate.
