Transesterification of rapeseed oil in a bubbling reactor involving evaporation of products
MeOH vapor was bubbled through a rapeseed oil at 180-200 inverted perpendicular C contg. 1% of dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid as catalyst to yield pure Me esters of fatty acids. Glycerol was transformed entirely into acrolein. AcOEt and 0.1% catalyst gave Et esters 61, glycerol triacetate 6.6, and acetylated monoglycerides 32%. Dimethylaminopyridine as catalyst, 0.1%, gave more glycerol triacetate, 28%, and less monoglycerides, 14%.
