Pd, Pt, or Pd-Pt alloys were deposited on Au and reticulated vitreous carbon (RVC). The sp. pseudo-capacitance of Pd/RVC and Pd-Rh/RVC was comparable to that of a high-capacitance RuO2. The Pt-Rh/RVC was as favorable to electrooxidn of MeOH as were Pt-Rh alloys. The Pt group metals electrodeposited on RVC are promising electrode systems for electrochem. capacitors and fuell cells.
