Comparison of physicochemical properties and uses of talc and synthetic MgO center dot SiO(2) composites
MgO center dot SiO(2) composite was pptd. from 5% soln. of MgSO(4) and Na(2)SiO(3) at room temp. under stirring in a large lab. reactor (10 L). The oxide composite was studied for bulk d., H(2)O, paraffinic oil and Bu(2) phthalate adsorption, chem. compn., humidity, sp. surface, pore vol. and diam. as well as electrokinetic properties. The sp. surface of the composite (542 m(2)g) was much higher than of talc (5 m(2)/g). The composites showed higher capacity of the PhOH adsorption, esp. at ist higher concns. (5 g/L).
