Removal of methane from coal mine ventilation air by oxidation over monolithic palladium catalysts
Four monolithic Pd catalysts were prepd. and tested for their activity in the oxidn. of MeH in air. The catalysts were supported on heat-resisting honey-comb FeCrAl foils, preliminarily wash-coated with Al(2)O(3), Al(2)O(3)-0.1%La(2)O(3) or Al(2)O(3)-0.1%La(2)O(3)-0.59%TiO(2) layers. The addn. of 0.1% La(2)O(3) into the wash-coat resulted in an increase in the catalyst activity. The activity depended also on the method for wash-coat prepn. The MeH combustion over the Pd catalysts was recommended as an efficient method for the removal of MeH from ventilation air when the MeH concn. was lower than 0.75%.
