Effect of the cobalt-chromium alloy surface treatment on its bonding strength to acrylic resin
Seventy samples of a Cr-Co alloy were sand-blasted with Al2O3 (grain size 50, 110 or 250 mu m), optionally silanized, covered with molten acrylic resin under in-situ polymerization condidtions, and then studied for bond strength under shearing. The silanization of the alloy surface resulted in a significant increase in strength of the bond.
