Low-d. polyethylene was blended with com. oxidized or maleic anhydride-modified polyethylene waxes (2.5-5%) and filled (60-80%) with wood flours at 130 degrees C. The composite material was studied for mech. properties and H2O absorption. The addn. of the oxidized wax resulted in an increase in the tensile strength and hydrophobicity.
