Study on mechanisms of SHS transient liquid phase bonding between ceramics and metal in the composite pipes
Ceramic-lined composite pipes could be fabricated with three-layer structures of steel substrate, intermediate alloy and ceramics through SHS gravitational separation process. Intermediate alloy is composed of Fe-Cr-Ni-Al-Ti base with gradient distribution of carbide of Ti enrichment. This kind of carbides are obtained through chemical reaction between carbon black and Ti powder, re-melting and dissolving of solid carbide into alloy liquid of Fe-Cr-Ni-Al-Ti, and precipitation of the carbide from alloy liquid. Bonding mechanisms between ceramics and the intermediate come into effect by bridging of the carbide with Ti enrichment between two sides.
