Magnetically controlled Shape Memory (MSM) alloy is a new kind of active material, which exhibits both the characteristics of large output strains as shape memory alloys, and of rapid response as piezoelectric ceramics and magneto-strictive materials. In this paper the recent progress of magnetic shape memory alloys is introduced.
