Modelling of hot isostatic pressing of metal powders
Hot Isostatic Pressing is a forming process during which metal or ceramic powders are submitted to high temperature and pressure cycle in order to obtain fully dense materials. The present study concerns general considerations on the process. In particular numerical simulation is presented as a good way to optimise the process. The different densification modelling approaches as well as the different experimental tests for the characterisation of the materials involved are discussed. Some numerical simulation results are lastly presented.
