A study on hot working of Al/SiC composites - Part II
The hot deformation behavior of SiC particle reinforced Aluminium composite made by powder metallurgy route was studied by compression testing. Power dissipation efficiency and instability parameter were evaluated and plotted with temperature and stain rate. The contour plots of power dissipation efficiency and instability parameter were super imposed to obtain the processing maps for Al/SiC composites with different volume fractions of reinforcement. The domains for hot working were identified for the different materials and were found to be located in different regions.
