Voltammetry and quantitative surface stress measurements of anion adsorption on Au(111) have been performed simultaneously at the metal \ electrolyte interface. A linear correlation between surface stress and interfacial charge was observed. It is shown that this representation is to be preferred to the usual voltstressogram, since the structure of the latter is dominated by the differential capacity.
