Konzept zur chemischen Warmespeicherung mit flussigen organischen Hydriden
The Liquid Organic Reaction Cycle is our proposal for thermochemical energy storage. Herein methylcyclohexane (MCH) is catalytically dehydrogenated at 300 - 350 degrees C in presence of a Pd membrane. The evolving hydrogen is stored via absorption in metal hydrides, whereas toluene and unconverted MCH are stored in conventional liquid tanks. To regain the stored thermal energy toluene is catalytically hydrogenated at approximately 300 degrees C and 30 bar. With this system relatively high energy densities as well as a long term storage of heat is applicable.
