Coating the polyethylene films to generate the antibacterial properties
Polyethylene film was covered with modified coatings and studied for antibacterial properties. The plant exts. did not decrease the E. coli growth. The coatings were modified by addn. of buckwheat hulls, apple pomace, grape seed oil, corn haulm, hay and green tea exts. An antibacterial action against S. aureus was obsd. The buckwheat hulls and apple pomace exts.-contg. coatings were not active against E. coli but showed an antibacterial activity against S. aureus. The best results were obtained when a 10% acetate ext. of buckwheat hull was applied. An 1 log redn. of the amt. of S. aureus cells was noticed.
