Estimation of the antimicrobial properties of the coatings from industrial trials
The plant exts. were prepd. in lab. scale, added to an nitrocelulose varnish and used for coating a polyethylene/polyethylene terephatale film under industrial conditions (up-scaling). The coatings contg. an EtOH ext. of coconut waste showed an antimicrobial action against S. aureus cells. In contrary, the ext. of green tea supported the growth of Gram-positive cells. It showed only a low activity against E. coil. In the case of E. coil, the best results were obtained when a pepper ext. was used. The exts. were not active against B. cinerea cells.
