High-level wastes contain significant quantities of platinum group metals such as Pb(II), Rh(III), and Ru(III). There are many techniques such as solvent extraction, precipitation, and adsorption methods for the separation of Rh(III). In this paper, batch experiments were carried out to investigate ion exchange characteristics of Rh(III) from a nitric acid solution by commercial cation and anion exchange resins such as Dowex 50W, IRN 78 and Dowex 1x8. The effects of ionic group of resins, solution temperature, and the concentration of nitric acid were investigated. And the elution characteristic of RH(III) by various eluents was studied.
