Intensification of dry reforming of methane on membrane catalyst
A kinetic study of dry reforming of methane (DRM) on the traditional powder and membrane catalysts with the active component WC was performed. The paper presents the mass balance of DRM. A kinetic model in which the formation of carbon deposits is absent on both catalysts has been proposed. The model was established that DRM proceeds identically on the traditional and membrane catalysts, that made it possible to propose a kinetic model applicable to both catalysts over the entire range of temperatures, concentrations and flow rates. The rate constant of direct reaction of dry reforming of methane on a membrane catalyst at a temperature of 900 degrees C is 30 times higher than on a traditional catalyst at the same temperature. This is one more proof of the intensification of catalytic processes with using the membrane catalysts. It has been suggested that the intensification on the membrane catalyst is associated with the features of mass transfer under the conditions of Knudsen diffusion.
