Effect of fish collagen and poly(hexamethylene biguanide) hydrochloride on the content of micro- and macroelements in maize plants
Maize seeds were coated with binding agents (fish collagen or poly((hexamethylene biguanide) hydrochloride, PHMB). In maize seedlings (after 21 days of growth), the dry and fresh mass of shoots and roots as well as the contents of elements (B, Ca, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, P and Zn) were detd. A significant increase in the fresh mass of maize shoots and roots grown from PHMB-coated seeds was obsd., compared to the control sample. The use of both types of binding agents significantly changed the elemental compn. of the roots and shoots. In the roots of plant grown from collagen-coated seeds, the highest increase in content of B and Na was obsd., while those grown from PHMB-coated seeds, the highest increase in the content of Fe, K, Mg and P The smaller changes in the content of elements were obsd. in the plant shoots.
