Very often it is necessary to identify the type of polymer in mechanical rubber goods. Analytical methods used for this task are shortly reviewed. An integrated TGA-FTIR System is used to analyze vulcanizates. A sample of vulcanized NBR is analyzed to show for example which sorts of results one can get with this integrated analytical system. Several samples of vulcanized synthetic rubber are analyzed for identification of the polymer The analyzed samples are based on different polymers which are often used to manufacture mechanical rubber goods.
