Application of epoxidised NR/diamine vulcanizates for tyre tread
Sulphur vulcanizates of epoxidised natural rubber (ENR) mixed with carbon black in the presence of diamine showed low values of the loss tangent in the rubbery region, meaning low rolling resistance. The Payne effect was found to be reduced by the addition of diamine, It was estimated that the decrease of tan delta was due to the enhancement of the crosslinking density and the interaction between ENR and carbon black by the introduction of the diamine, The influence of the types of diamines on the improvement of ENR compounds was also investigated. Primary and alkyl amines were more effective for a reduction of the rolling resistance of ENR compounds than tertiary and the aromatic amines.
